The 2025 hunting season is almost here, and for Pennsylvania hunters, it’s going to be huge. A
recent change in state law now allows the Pennsylvania Game Commission (PGC) to authorize hunting on all Sundays throughout the hunting season. For many years, Sunday hunting was prohibited; more recently only three Sundays were permitted. Starting in 2025, the calendar looks very different, and much better for time‑crunched hunters.
Quick Look: 2025 Pennsylvania Sunday Hunting Dates
Pennsylvania hunters may hunt on the following Sundays in 2025:
September 14
September 21
September 28
October 5
October 12
October 19
October 26
November 2
November 9
November 16
November 23
November 30
December 7
Heads up: Some Sunday dates were approved after the 2025 Hunting & Trapping Digest went to print. Always double‑check the latest updates on the PGC website before you go afield.
What Species Can You Hunt on Sundays?
In 2025, you may hunt any species that is lawful to hunt on the following Monday. In other words, if the season is open on Monday, it’s also open on the Sunday immediately before it (with the exception below).
Important Exceptions
Migratory game birds: Federal law prohibits hunting migratory game birds on any Sunday.
Deer Season end date: The statewide firearms deer season ends Saturday, December 13 in 2025. There is no hunting on Sunday, December 14.
For full season structures, WMU‑specific rules, hunting hours, and legal implements, consult the official Hunting & Trapping Digest and the PGC’s online resources.
Make the Most of the Extra Sundays
More Sundays mean more opportunities for scouting, dialing in your zero, and getting new hunters into the field. A few tips:
Plan ahead: Mark each Sunday on your calendar with your target species and WMU.
Check local regs: County parks and private lands may have additional restrictions, always get permission and know the rules.
Prep your kit: Extra days mean more ammo, more range time, and fresh maintenance on your go‑to rifle, shotgun, or crossbow.
